Yesterday, I was driving along when I turned onto a road behind a motorcycle cop. We went a few blocks and I passed the cop, while underneath the speed limit. I could tell after I had done it that the cop didn't like that so much.

We then went over a bridge and up a hill. I was doing the speed limit in the "fast lane" (Keep in mind this is a city street, not a highway) and the cop pulled up behind me. I could tell he wanted to pull me over, but I kept doing exactly the speed limit. We then came upon traffic so I watched him watch me from behind as we inched along.

And then my guardian angel showed up. Some guy decided that parking in the strip mall was too hard, and he was just going to park on the sidewalk and median that separated the strip mall parking lot. After putting his car on the sidewalk he took off running into the plaza.

The cop then put on his lights and pulled over to issue that guy a ticket. I was free.

He parked right where that drycleaning sign was. C'mon man!

Clearly the cop wanted to check your car out.

Hahaha probably. That's what happens though when you've get pulled over 7 times in a few years.

I dunno if they still do it, but on Hwy 2 from Calgary to Edmonton the RCMP would often roll along at 95 km/h in a 110 zone. On 4 & 6 lane divided highways. In daylight, on dry pavement, just because.

You'd have dozens and dozens of timid drivers puttering along behind, scared to overtake.

Suckers.

Hahaha. I WILL overtake a cop if they are going below the speed limit and it's reasonable to pass. As I did. And then got away with. Thanks to ultimate asshat parking.

You would have got away with it anyways, as long as you could keep your cool. Just pretend he's not there and he'll get tired of harrasing you. It's happened to me as well where the cops follow, just waiting for a mistake...

This. I like to use my cruise control for extra security. Silly people who are afraid to just drive because they see a cop.

When I was young Iwould just pull over if I felt like I was being follow through several turns. Its mot the wises thing to do but it ends the gfam, and kept me from slipping up to much.

Does a police officer have the right to issue a parking ticket on private property? If he parked on the grass, not on a sidewalk or handicap parking spot, would it not be the owner of the property who would request the man to move his car or be towed?

He parked half on the grass half on the sidewalk, therefore the cop was well within his rights to ticket.
